Be more productive in just 5 minutes.
From career to friends/family to taking care of our health, it’s a wonder we find the time to do it all. The truth is though, we often don’t. With all the apps and organizational tools out there, how can we stay productive? Thanks to a scientifically proven study, it may be easier than you think.
The International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity wrote about a study that took a random sample of 30 healthy, sedentary, non-obese men and women between the ages of 25-50, to determine their overall health changes when incorporating just 5 minutes of movement each hour. According to this study, “Introducing short bouts of activity during the workday of sedentary office workers is a promising approach to improve overall well-being at work without negatively impacting cognitive performance.”
Great, but how do we implement it? Try setting a timer for every hour as a reminder to get up, stretch, or take a quick lap around the building outside. Regular exercise has been proven to improve brain functioning which can improve “information processing and memory functions.” If you have trouble starting with an hourly commitment, set a goal of a 5-10 minute walk twice before and after lunch. Make the task attainable so you set yourself up for success.
